Maintenance Tips

  • Use walk off mats at all entrances and doorways to reduce grit
  • Dust, mop or vacuum daily
  • Do not use any oils or waxes on dust mop
  • Use a sponge mop dampened slightly with soft water or WearMax Cleaner, on a regular basis (weekly) to remove soil
  • Never use anything other than water or WearMax Cleaner on your WearMax finish

Your WearMax Finish is Easy to Maintain

Stain Resistance Test
  • Blot up spills and spots immediately
  • Just dust mop your floor with a clean dust mop. Do not use anything on your dust mop.
  • Mop your floors with a high quality sponge mop. Use only clean soft water. Nothing else is needed.
    • Do not use any cleaners on your floor except WearMax Cleaner
  • Wring out the sponge mop vigorously.
  • Mop in the direction of the grain.
  • If you see water on your floor, your sponge is probably too wet.
  • You may want to press the mophead into a dry towel to remove excess moisture.
  • For heavily soiled floors, use WearMax Cleaner as directed.
  • Do not use wax, polish, or abrasive cleaners, steel wool, or scouring powder.

Protecting Your Finish

Tough Stains Solutions

  • Use quality area rugs and doormats by outdoor entrance areas to prevent dirt, sand, grit, and other substances such as oil, asphalt or driveway sealer from being tracked onto your floor.
  • Use quality felt floor protectors or wide bearing furniture rests with felt bottoms. The wider the protector, the better. Never use rolling casters on your wood floors.
  • Avoid gouges or cuts in your floor from sharp objects. While your WearMax floor is the most wear-resistant finish on the market, sharp or pointed objects can nevertheless damage it and your floor.
  • Do not walk on your floor with "stiletto-style" heels. Stiletto heels and other high-pressure point objects may cause indentations on the finish and wood floor.
  • Sunlight can have an effect on natural wood floors. Rearrange area rugs and furniture periodically to minimize light discoloration.
  • Keep pet's nails trimmed and filed in order to minimize surface indentations.
  • Use an air tire dolly when moving heavy appliances or furniture. But first, put down a sheet of quarter- inch plywood or Masonite to protect the floor surface. Never try to slide or roll heavy objects across the floor without precautions.

Cleaning Instructions

For wood floors:

  • Dust mop your floor first to pick up any loose grit or dirt.
  • Lightly spray an area about 3' x 3' with WearMax Cleaner.
  • Wipe the floor with a clean sponge mop or clean white cloth. Mop in the direction of the grain when possible. Do not soak or flood the floor.
  • Rinse mop or cloth in clean water. Wring dry before lightly spraying the next area.
  • For stubborn stains, let the WearMax Cleaner set on the surface for 2-3 minutes before wiping up.

For Upholstered Surfaces:

  • Lightly spray the area with WearMax Cleaner.
  • Let soak 2-3 minutes.
  • Wipe with clean, damp, white cloth or paper towel.

For Other Surfaces:

  • Lightly spray the area with WearMax Cleaner.
  • Wipe up with a clean white cloth or paper towel.

Note: The first use of WearMax Cleaner should be with the 'Heavier Soil' mix (see WearMax Cleaner link for more information). You may notice some streaks on the cleaned surface. These streaks are due to the WearMax Cleaner mixing with and removing residues on the surface you just cleaned. Follow-up this initial cleaning with the 'Standard' mix. This should alleviate the streaks.

The 'Standard' mix should be adequate for future cleaning, as long as you do not use other cleaners.
